Mataram, University of Mataram – The Language Service Unit of the University of Mataram (Pubah Unram) has announced a new initiative for 2024 called TUTOR’S TELL. The second TUTOR’S TELL session was held on Thursday (1/2) in the Tutor Room of Pubah Unram.
TUTOR’S TELL is a monthly event designed as a platform for language tutors at Pubah Unram to share experiences regarding the use of technology, the enhancement of teaching methods, and other important information. In addition to being an information-sharing forum, TUTOR’S TELL aims to continuously encourage tutors to improve their skills and leverage relevant technological advancements in language teaching.
In this session, four tutors—Ms. Selma, Mr. Yudha, Mr. Mustofa, and Mr. Anugerah—presented various English language applications that can help students better understand and enhance their English language skills.
Ms. Selma introduced applications such as Cathoven (an AI-based application focusing on reading), TalkPal (an AI application that offers a learning experience with realistic voice interaction similar to speaking with a native speaker), and WordHippo (a dictionary). Mr. Yudha discussed phonological awareness and sound beginning, explaining its relevance to word recognition and sound formation, as well as its impact on individuals exposed to English.
Following that, Mr. Mustofa engaged the tutors in an English language game using Kahoot.it. Finally, Mr. Anugerah introduced the Diffit application, which can be used to improve reading skills.
The TUTOR’S TELL session proved to be both informative and engaging, reflecting Pubah Unram’s commitment to enhancing the quality of language teaching to provide a better learning experience for students.
