Mataram, November 2024 – The Head of UPA Bahasa UNRAM, Boniesta Z.M., S.Pd., M.A., participated as a speaker in the TOEFL ITP Preparation Training organized by UPT Bahasa Universitas Borneo Tarakan. The online event took place from November 4 to 6, 2024. Other speakers included Dr. Ervina CM S., M.Hum., from Universitas Widyatama Bandung, with the sessions moderated by Dr. Nofvia De Vega, M.Pd., and Dr. Uli A. Gultom, M.Pd., from UPT Bahasa Universitas Borneo Tarakan. The training, held via Zoom, ran for three days from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM WITA.
Implementation of Collaboration Through Webinar Activities
The participation of Ms. Boniesta in this event represented the implementation of the collaboration between UPA Bahasa UNRAM and UPT Bahasa Universitas Borneo Tarakan. The TOEFL ITP Preparation Training highlights the commitment of both institutions to actively contribute to English language learning and development through dedicated services and programs. The training aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for the TOEFL ITP (Test of English as a Foreign Language Institutional Testing Program).
Ms. Boniesta guided participants to better understand key sections of the TOEFL ITP, including Structure & Written Expression and Reading Comprehension, which are crucial components of the test. The sessions included interactive and in-depth explanations of strategies for tackling questions in these sections. She also provided valuable tips to enhance participants’ English academic skills, which are beneficial not only for TOEFL but also for academic contexts in general.
Additionally, participants engaged in a post-test to assess their understanding of the material presented. They were given simulated TOEFL ITP questions that closely resembled the actual test and had the opportunity to review and discuss the answers with the speakers.

The training was met with enthusiasm from participants, as it serves as a vital effort to enhance English language competencies, which are increasingly integral across various aspects of life. Open to the public, the TOEFL ITP Preparation Training is expected to prepare participants for the TOEFL ITP exam and enable them to apply English skills in their academic and professional endeavors.
