Mataram, University of Mataram – On Monday, August 11, 2024, EPICURE Batch 3 has entered the second half of its total 22 sessions. This batch commenced in July 2024, specifically on Monday, July 8. EPICURE (English Proficiency Course for University of Mataram’s Lecturers) is an English language training program designed specifically for lecturers at the University of Mataram. The program aims to elevate the English language skills of the university’s lecturers to an advanced level, focusing on fluency, accuracy, and confidence in using English across various contexts. EPICURE offers a range of classes, including Academic English, TOEFL Preparation, and IELTS Preparation at different levels.
The implementation of EPICURE receives full support from the Rector of UNRAM, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, M.Agr.St., Ph.D. He hopes that this program can aid in the internationalization efforts of UNRAM. Indeed, EPICURE carries a primary mission to enable UNRAM lecturers to achieve sufficient IELTS scores to support their studies abroad. However, more broadly, EPICURE represents a breath of fresh air for UNRAM lecturers. The program assists in enhancing English language proficiency, which supports teaching and learning processes, facilitates communication with colleagues, and encourages participation in international conferences. Lecturers can also expand their academic vocabulary, making it easier to draft papers and scientific journals. Furthermore, EPICURE serves as a platform for building confidence in speaking and writing in English.
The EPICURE program is supported by tutors who have received training through C-CELT: Teaching IELTS Preparation. During the C-CELT training, tutors acquired teaching skills related to listening, reading, writing (Task 1 and Task 2), and speaking. Therefore, it can be assured that these tutors are competent in teaching English. The tutors have high hopes that the lecturers participating in the EPICURE program will reap significant benefits. It is undeniable that these tutors also expect the lecturers to actively participate in classes, practice, and apply the skills they learn. To facilitate EPICURE participants, UPA Bahasa UNRAM utilizes technology and digital resources to support learning through the UNRAM MOOC (Massive Online Open Course). Each EPICURE participant will be assigned according to their respective classes, allowing them easy access to interactive and engaging learning materials, including simulations of tests tailored to their levels.
EPICURE is open to all UNRAM lecturers, so those interested in this specially designed program can register according to the schedule set by UPA Bahasa UNRAM. UNRAM lecturers, let’s join EPICURE and create a university that is literate in the English language!
