Introductory to Academic English

The Introductory to Academic English class is designed for students who score 400 or lower on the TOEFL test. The goal of this class is to provide students with a strong foundation in academic English, enabling them to become familiar with the skills and conventions necessary for an academic environment and future academic activities. In this class, students will engage in various activities and exercises that focus on developing basic academic English skills. Emphasis will be placed on improving reading comprehension, writing skills, listening comprehension, and speaking abilities within an academic context. Additionally, students will be introduced to key academic vocabulary and basic academic writing conventions.

Reading Comprehension: Students will practice reading beginner-level academic texts, gradually enhancing their comprehension skills. They will learn essential reading strategies such as identifying main ideas, understanding context, and recognizing supporting details.

Basic Writing Skills: The course will introduce students to the fundamentals of academic writing, including sentence structure, paragraph development, and the use of basic grammar. Students will learn to express their ideas clearly and coherently in simple academic writing tasks.

Listening Comprehension: Students will enhance their listening skills by engaging with academic material, such as lecture recordings and short academic discussions. They will practice understanding main ideas, following instructions, and recognizing common academic vocabulary.

Academic English

The Academic English class is specifically designed for students who have scored between 401 and 450 on the TOEFL test. IELTS Preparation 1

The IELTS Preparation 1 class is designed for students who have achieved a TOEFL score between 450 and 500 or an equivalent IELTS score of approximately 4.5. The primary goal of this class is to equip students with the skills and strategies necessary to achieve a band score of 5.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam. In this class, students will engage in various activities and exercises aimed at improving their proficiency in the four components of the IELTS test: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Emphasis will be placed on developing essential language skills, test-taking strategies, and time management techniques.

Listening Skills: Students will enhance their listening comprehension through extensive practice with a variety of audio materials, including conversations, lectures, and interviews. They will learn effective note-taking techniques, improve their ability to identify key information, and increase their overall understanding of spoken English.

Reading Skills: The course will focus on strengthening students’ reading comprehension by exposing them to diverse authentic reading passages. Through guided practice and discussions, students will learn effective reading strategies such as skimming, scanning, identifying main ideas, supporting details, and inferred meanings.
