Tarakan, December 12, 2024 – Universitas Borneo Tarakan (UBT) successfully organized a Workshop and Launching event for the Language Laboratory under the theme “Digital Literacy: Educational Collaboration in Border Areas.” This event aimed to enhance digital literacy skills and foster collaboration among educators in border regions. The program was held on the second floor of the SBSN UBT Building and featured several distinguished speakers, including Mrs. Boniesta Z.M., S.Pd., M.A., Ph.D.
Mrs. Boniesta, who serves as the Head of the Language Service Unit (UPA. Bahasa) at Universitas Mataram, was the second presenter in the workshop session discussing the challenges of digital literacy in education. In her presentation, Mrs. Boniesta highlighted the importance of understanding and mastering digital literacy as a key to adapting to changing times, especially for educators in border areas. She also shared insights on how technology can be utilized to improve the quality of learning and expand access to education.
In line with the event’s theme, Mrs. Boniesta commended UBT’s initiative in inaugurating the Language Laboratory, which is expected to become a crucial facility for students to enhance their foreign language skills, aligning with the demands of globalization and advancements in digital technology. “The presence of this laboratory greatly supports the improvement of students’ language competencies, which are essential assets in the workforce,” said Mrs. Boniesta.
The inauguration of the UBT Language Laboratory was conducted by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Planning, and Cooperation of UBT, Dr. Ir. M. Djaya Bakri, S.T., M.T. He expressed hope that this facility would enhance the quality of education at UBT, particularly in mastering foreign languages and technology.
