The Language Support Unit of the University of Mataram, in collaboration with IALF Bali, successfully organized the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test on September 28, 2024. This test is a key standard for English language proficiency among non-native speakers who wish to measure their skills across various areas. The well-organized test administration, along with the high enthusiasm of participants, stands as proof of this event’s success.

The test followed strict regulations to ensure that it accurately measured participants’ abilities. Before the test began, all participants were required to register by presenting their ID, such as a KTP (Indonesian ID card) or passport. Additionally, a photo-taking and fingerprint scanning process was conducted to guarantee security and data accuracy. Once registration was completed, participants took on the exam, which covered the four main components: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking, fully assessing their English proficiency.
The diverse backgrounds and motivations of the participants also reflected the test’s success. One participant, Bayu, expressed relief after completing the exam, especially after preparing for three months. Bayu’s motivation for taking the test was to open up career opportunities abroad. Another participant, Ayi, shared the challenges she faced and her determination to take the test to support her further studies.

In an interview with an IALF Bali representative, Ms. Ade expressed her appreciation to the Language Support Unit of the University of Mataram for the facilities and support provided, as well as the participants’ enthusiasm. “The participants were very enthusiastic. Hopefully, the University of Mataram can host more tests in the future and attract even more participants,” said Ms. Ade. She also offered tips for future IELTS candidates, advising them to practice regularly and enroll in preparation courses to achieve optimal results.
Overall, the IELTS test at the Language Support Unit of the University of Mataram was a resounding success, thanks to excellent collaboration with IALF Bali. It is hoped that more such test sessions will be held in the future.
