(M Sunday, July 21, 2024) The Academic Language Support Unit (UPA Bahasa) of UNRAM, as the language academic support unit at the University of Mataram, carries the responsibility to contribute to the realization of quality education, which is a commitment of the University of Mataram. In order to support the establishment of quality education, UPA Bahasa UNRAM organized an event titled Workshop on the Development of Online Learning Platforms and Interactive Self-Access Language Learning (SALL) Materials Integrated to Achieve Excellence in Education Towards a World-Class University. This event took place on Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21, 2024, in the Meeting Room of the Rector’s Office on the 3rd floor of the University of Mataram Rectorate. The event was inaugurated by the Rector of the University of Mataram, Prof. Ir. Bambang Hari Kusumo, SH., M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., who expressed his hopes regarding the development of SALL and its contributions to enhancing the English language competence of the academic community at the University of Mataram.
In this digital era, educational institutions must adapt to technological advancements. The use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) has become essential to support interactive learning and provide alternative solutions for independent English language learning. Recognizing this, UNRAM developed the platform mooc.unram.ac.id, which is based on the Common European Framework for Reference for Languages (CEFR) and integrated with SALL in each faculty. UPA Bahasa UNRAM, as the designated unit to assist in the implementation of SALL, took the initiative to equip SALL tutors and UPA Bahasa instructors with the necessary knowledge for developing integrated online SALL learning through the SALL workshop.
The materials presented included the use of the LMS platform mooc.unram.ac.id by Azhari Hasbi, ST; the use of H5P-based Interactive Learning Materials by Aditya Permadi, S.Si., M.T; and the Application & Implementation of H5P by Asep Sufyan Tsauri. Workshop participants immediately practiced the materials learned to develop the classes they supervise. SALL tutors and UPA Bahasa instructors were divided into several groups and tasked with creating interactive learning based on the skills acquired during the workshop. At the end of the event, each group presented their work. This two-day workshop was deemed successful as participants quickly became proficient in using various H5P supporting applications and platforms, effectively leveraging them to create interactive learning implemented on mooc.unram.ac.id.
