Mataram, University of Mataram – The Translation and Interpretation Program (PPP) of LBI FIB UI was entrusted to conduct an in-house training on General Text Translation from Indonesian to English for the University of Mataram. The first session was led by Mrs. Faizah Sari, Ph.D., on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. She began the class with a warm-up session to help the participants focus and energize themselves for the morning training session.
Before delving into the core material, Mrs. Sari and the participants agreed to use English throughout the training. Following this, Mrs. Sari presented her first topic, which covered the essence of translation, equivalence, and the translation process. The training proceeded smoothly, with participants not only listening attentively but also responding and asking spontaneous questions, either directly or through the Zoom Meeting chat box. They shared experiences about common errors made by students in translating the word “semangat” into “spirit.”
After the theoretical explanation, the practical session commenced, during which Mrs. Sari provided a short paragraph through the chat box for the participants to translate. The translation was then discussed collectively. The training concluded with an assignment and documentation before the session ended.
